Indian Wells
Indian Wells, as it is now known, was the location of a thriving Indian Village in the early 19th century. The area was a major source of water for local tribes. The largest spring was just adjacent to where the City Hall currently lies. A decade later, settlers began arriving from Colorado via the Bradshaw Trail en route to gold mines. Indian Wells became an important stop along the trail. By 1910, Indian Wells was becoming residential. Today, the city hosts the Indian Wells Masters, one of nine tournaments in the World Masters Tour, held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which houses the second largest tennis stadium in the world. This city is also recognized as having one of the highest income averages in the U.S.
