Desert Hot Springs has experienced rapid growth and appreciation over the past few years. The area was initially known as “The Seven Sisters” because of the seven natural springs located in the area. Super-heated, sulfur-free water emerges from an underground aquifer at temps of up to 180° F, just east of the Andreas Fault. You can find an eclectic assortment of independently-owned boutique hotels catering to those who want to experience the hot springs. The pools at these properties are filled with the curative spring waters, which are said to improve health, reduce pain and increase metabolism.
There are many other popular attractions including Cabot’s Pueblo Museum. Nestled at the base of the San Bernardino Mountains near the Mission Creek Preserve, a protected part of the Wildlands Conservancy includes lush wetlands, a perennial stream, and native flora, making hiking a popular activity.
