Cathedral City
Cathedral City, known as “Cat City” to locals, is situated between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. The city has the second largest population, after Indio, of the nine cities in the Coachella Valley. Originally, an artists’ colony in the Cathedral Cove neighborhood almost 100 years ago, famous artists such as Agnes Pelton, Val Samuelson, and Matille Prigge Seamen all lived there.
The art tradition continues today with an array of art boutiques. There is also a brand new Casino in the downtown arts and entertainment area. For live theater, Cathedral City is proud host to the only actors’ equity playhouse in the Coachella Valley, the CVRep theater. For those who enjoy golf, Cathedral City boasts Cimarron Golf Resort: Cathedral Canyon Golf Club, and Desert Princess Country Club.
